Sunday 1st October - Archaeology Museum, Kildare St

Hi Sketchers!
On Sunday the 1st of October, Dublin Sketchers will sketch at the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology on Kildare St. The museum opens at 2 on a Sunday.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone who looks like a sketcher at 2pm, just choose something to draw and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. New people come along almost every week so don't be shy about introducing yourself.  It's a nice friendly gathering and you'll get know us over coffee from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

Find out more about the Archaeology Museum here.

From 4pm, we'll gather for a coffee at KC Peaches, Stephen's Green. It's a 5 minute walk from the museum. I highly recommend their cake! A bunch of people who look like sketchers will magically appear.

This week's optional challenge is to sketch something from the Ancient Egypt exhibition.

Hope to see you there!

Sketches from the Icon Factory (24 September 2017)

Thank you to The Icon Factory for letting us sketch around their workshop and street on Sunday afternoon.

Temple Bar can be a busy spot on a sunny Sunday afternoon, but the Icon Factory is tucked away between Fleet Street and the Liffey and provided the perfect location for sketching. It's well worth a visit - they are an artist cooperative who are literally reclaiming the streets; they have beautiful art on display, and the Icon Walk will take you through a who-is-who of Irish Icons.
A special thanks to Aga and Iwona for making us feel welcome. And to Amolika, who kindly agreed to be sketched!

You will find photos of Dublin Sketchers in action on the Icon Factory Facebook page!

Chris (Thank you for organising October, Chris, by the way! Great locations!)

Sunday 24 September 2017 The Icon Factory, Icon Walk and Temple Bar and coffee in Fitzsimmons Hotel

On Sunday the 24 September Dublin Sketchers will meet up at the Icon Factory Aston Place Dublin 2 to sketch in the Icon Factory and round and about The Icon Walk and Temple Bar from 2pm and meet for coffee / pint / drinks at 4pm in Fitzsimmons Temple Bar.
A hazy map for Icon Factory!

The Icon Factory and Icon Walk are initiatives to improve the Temple Bar area. Aga, an artist at the Icon Factory, will be available to talk to people and has said that people may sketch in the studio. See www.iconfactorydublin.ie
The Icon Walk tells a story of Ireland and her artists written on the back streets of Temple Bar. There are many other sketching possibilities around too!
Fitzsimmons Temple Bar is also a good (especially in wet weather) sketching location. On the ground floor, the bar faces onto three streets and the river giving great perspectives!

From 4pm, we'll gather for a coffee at Fitzsimmons Hotel Temple Bar.

This week's optional challenge is to hide someone famous in your sketch.
Hope to see you there!
