From 1:30pm on Sunday 23rd January, Dublin Sketchers will sketch around Portobello at the Grand Canal

Ideas for sketching would be the Atlas Language School building which is a landmark of the area, or the bridge and canal lock. Also there’s nice views towards Rathmines with the Church of Mary Immaculate as well as the clock tower further afield.

If you prefer to sketch inside there’s many cafes in the area. Eg. Grove Road Cafe right on the corner of the Canal with nice views. There’s a few more cafes on Richmond Street.

Please keep in mind current government guidelines on Covid.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 1:30pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know when we get together at 3:30pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

Rather than meeting in a pub or coffee shop, we'll gather outdoors to catch up and check out each other's work. At 3:30pm we'll gather on the main public square of Portobello, just next to the Atlas building.

If you can't make it into Portobello then why not stay local and sketch in your Dublin neighbourhood.

If you would like your sketch to be added to the website, email it to dublinsketchers @ gmail .com or post it to the Dublin Sketchers Social WhatsApp group if you are on that. Please edit your image so that it is low res and properly oriented for posting to the website. If you're on Instagram, use #dublinsketchers #urbansketchers

Looking forward to seeing you there.
