30th November — The Little Museum of Dublin

On Sunday 30th November Dublin Sketchers will sketch at The Little Museum of Dublin with the permission of founder/ director Trevor White.

The museum is at 15 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, in a wonderful C18th Dublin town house. We will have the run of the public areas of the building gratis from 2 to 4pm.

Sketchers will need to be aware however that it is a working museum and obliged to have no more than 30 people in each of the first floor exhibition rooms during tours. This means that sketchers in these rooms may have to move to accommodate tour groups but there are plenty of other rooms to sketch in as well as fascinating exhibition material and they would be happy to see your work if you are willing to share it.

If it’s your first time out just call to the museum entrance and identify yourself as a sketcher. You need to bring your own materials.

From 4pm we will meet in Toner’s Bar a short walk away on Merrion Row to chat and admire each others sketches. A space has been reserved for us.

23rd of November - Portobello Harbour

On Sunday 23rd November Dublin Sketchers will sketch in the Portobello Harbour area beside the Grand Canal in Dublin 8.

Wrap up well. In past times this area was a major transport hub with two large canal boat harbours (sadly now filled in). The Portobello Hotel (now Atlas Language School) was built in 1807 to accommodate canal boat passengers.

If it’s your first time keep your eyes open for other sketchers and say hello - we are a friendly bunch. You need to bring your own sketching materials. We sketch from about 2pm and then meet up around 4pm for a chat and a drink and to enjoy each others sketches.

This week space has been reserved for us in The Lower Deck (Ryan’s of the Harbour). A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.

16th of November - Henrietta Street

On Sunday 16th November Dublin Sketchers will meet at Henrietta Street, Dublin 1, a very unique street of early Georgian townhouses dating from the 1730s.

The narrow archway at the top of the street leads to the King’s Inns Park so there is plenty of interest in the area.

If it’s your first time out we meet from about 2pm. Keep an eye out for other sketchers and say hello. You need to bring your own sketch book, pens, paints etc.

Everyone meets up for a drink, friendly chat and to enjoy each other’s sketches at 4pm. This week in The King’s Inns on the corner of Henrietta Street and Bolton Street. A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.
