SUNDAY 1st DECEMBER - HUGH LANE GALLERY

This Sunday we are going to meet at The Hugh Lane Gallery, Parnell Square North, Dublin 1.

We are hoping to link up with our friends in the Cork Drink and Draw Group who will be in be in Dublin for the day.  There is a classical music recital in the gallery at Noon, for anyone who gets there early.  The website for the Hugh Lane is www.hughlane.ie

We'll meet at 2pm at the entrance to the Gallery.

If you're new to Dublin Sketchers, you'll spot us easily as we'll be holding our sketchpads. Don't worry if you're late - just get stuck in with the drawing

We'll meet again at 4pm at the same place to go for coffee.  The Hugh Lane coffee shop closes at around 4.30pm, so we might make a short walk to Debenham’s on Henry Street and gather in their coffee shop on the top floor.

Hope to see you there.

Sunday 24th November Swenys Chemist

On Sunday 24 Movember the Dublin Sketchers are off to Swenys Chemist on Lincoln Place. This little gem has been operational since the 1850's. Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and Samuel Beckett used to shop here, and it features in Joyce's Ulysses. There's beautiful fixtures and fittings to draw, as well as pharmaceutical and Joycean paraphernalia. Not the warmest building in Dublin, so wrap up warm! The chemist is run by volunteers, so please bring some silver coins to drop into their jar to help pay the rent. We'll be there 2-4pm, then head up the street to Lincoln Inn for a drink and to check out each other's work. At 6pm, there'll be a reading from Finnegans Wake in the chemist if you're up for it!

From the Live Zoo

Here's what we got up to at the zoo. In the pub after, a few people had a go at the weekly challenge - holding an implement in each hand and sketching.....

Sunday 10th November - Fusion Market (Sunday 17th November - Dublin Zoo)

Unusually, we are setting the next 2 sketching locations......

Sunday 10th November

60% chance of rain, so we better head in doors... And where better than the wonderful Fusion Market at Dublin Food Co-op, 12 New Market Square, Dublin 8. There's normally loads to sketch - open mic singers, colourful stalls, people wandering about, the interesting building.....

We'll meet at 2pm at the entrance. If it's not too busy at 4pm, we'll enjoy a coffee at the Market. If it is busy, we'll meet in Cafe Noto at 79 Thomas St (corner of Francis Street).

Weekly Challenge - a good few people have suggested that we have an optional theme/challenge/approach for the Sunday sketching sessions. You can take up the challenge or ignore it completely! So, this week's challenge - draw with your "other" hand.... So, if you are right handed, use your left hand. If you are left handed, use your right hand!
