SUNDAY 31stJUNE 2019 –
Subject: Dublin Docklands

On Sunday the 31st of June Dublin Sketchers will sketch in Docklands.

All down along the Liffey - and if its too sunny /hot, the IFSC area can be cooler!

After that, there is plenty to see – lots of weigh bridges, cranes, boats and hopefully sparkling water!

The weather at the moment suggests possibly a, bit of rain but there are lots of places to shelter in.

From 4 o’clock, we will gather in the Gibson hotel where they have an amazing balcony that overlooks the docks. They can't guarantee a balcony space but there is plenty of space inside.
Take lift up to the reception floor and look out for a group with sketchbooks

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.

Luas routes :
Red line luas to point square

Update:  Good news!  The Final date is now Wednesday 26th June 2019.

Hi Dublin Sketchers.

Some time ago we were invited to contribute to the new publication By Emma Bennett, which will be called the Dublin Art Book.   It follows a series of the The Cambridge Art Book, The Oxford Art Book, and also The Edinburgh Art Book  and The Liverpool Art book which will be published this year.
As some of you may have already contributed your work to the Dublin Art Book, this is just a timely!  reminder that just in case some more of you would be happy to send in some of your sketches.
The last  day to send in has now been extended to Wednesday 26th. June 21019.

The website is:  http://www.thedublinartbook.co.uk/index.html       and basically you can submit up to 12 images free for consideration and the final selection for publication chosen by a panel of local art and city experts.

Click below on the link to get details of image file sizes  and  where to send them to:                                                        http://www.thedublinartbook.co.uk/dublingetinvolved.html

Remenber, not a lot of time left!   Best of luck,  M

SUNDAY 16th JUNE 2019 – BLOOMSDAY

Subject:  16th. June 2019

On Sunday the 16th of June Dublin Sketchers will sketch between the Garden of Remembrance and the park at Mountjoy Square, taking in that very Joycean route along Gardener Row/ Great Denmark Street and taking in the exhibition of notebooks by some of our members at the Olivier Cornet Gallery (3 Great Denmark Street, D.1) in honour of Bloomsday. The gallery will also have a performance which starts at 3pm and there will also be a cheese tasting!

From 4 o’clock, we will gather in the Old Music House for coffee and a chat.
( Everywhere is likely to be busy but hopefully this will be just enough off the main drag)

If the weather is truly terrible, you can also take refuge in the Hugh Lane Gallery.
You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.
A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.

This week's optional challenge is to : Paint : Bloom related food items

Hope to see you there!

Sketches from Iveagh Gardens today, Sunday June 9th. 2019

Today,  there was limited entry areas available into the Iveagh Gardens, due to work being done,   and as we entered through the little flower garden gate,  we were happy to avail of the unusual views afforded us there.
We also welcomed some Urban Sketcher visitors from the USA.
