Sunday 1st March - Smithfield Area

On Sunday the 1st of March Dublin Sketchers will sketch around the Smithfield area from 2pm and meet from 4pm in Costa Coffee Smithfield (near the Luas).

There are loads of interesting spots to sketch outdoors in the Smithfield Square area. However, here are a few cozy indoor suggestions in case it is either too cold or wet.

Cobblestone Pub - Live trad musicians playing from 2pm
Generator Hostel - Interesting café bar and reception area for people sketching.
If you are feeling brave, you can climb the 244 winding steps to the top of the chimney for a great view of Dublin (cost €5 and ask at the Generator hostel reception for access)
Outside Jameson Distillery - Seating area in Cristophe's cafe looks over the giant copper kettle and
interesting courtyard
Lighthouse Cinema - Colourful interior architecture and people sketching opportunities in the café

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and
get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd
who you’ll get to know over a coffee from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are!  You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

From 4pm, we'll gather for a drink at Costa Cafe Smithfield. A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.

Hope to see you there!

Sketches from the Freemasons' Hall, Sat. 22nd. Feb

We were lucky to be invited to sketch again at the Freemasons' Hall. So much to sketch there. Challenging too, these big rooms with tricky perspectives.

2 sketch outings this weekend - Read on

We have two sketch outings for you this weekend!

Saturday 2-4pm: the Freemasons' Grand Lodge
Sunday 2-4pm: Dundrum Shopping Centre

Saturday 2-4 pm
The Freemasons' Hall, located on Molesworth Street, are welcoming us again this Saturday 22 February.
It would be ideal if we could meet outside at 2pm and go in together, as much as possible, so that the staff in charge don't have to keep opening the door for us. Also, they close at 4:30 so don't arrive too late if you want to have enough time!

Can I remind everyone to be respectful of the tradition of freemasonry. Do not sit on tables or ornate chairs. Do not pick up objects. No bottles of ink or charcoal etc.You know yourself, but if you're not sure, ask a member of staff.

There is now a café and a bar in the building, and you are welcome to use the facilities.

We will meet for drinks at 4pm at The Duke (usually plenty of room upstairs)

If this is your first time out, welcome! Just bring your favourite materials, find a spot that grabs your attention and start sketching! Other sketchers will appear through the afternoon carrying sketchbooks, pencils and pens. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are.
New people come along almost every week so don't be shy about introducing yourself. It's a friendly gathering and you'll get to know us over a drink at 4pm.

Sunday 2-4pm
This Sunday 23rd of February, we will be sketching in Dundrum Shopping Centre, from about 2pm onwards.
Dundrum is easily accessible via Luas Green Line (Balally stop)

We will meet for drinks from 4pm at the big food court on the upper floor of the shopping centre. (There's an Irish rugby match kicking off at 3pm, so most pubs will be busy)

If this is your first time out, welcome! Just bring your favourite materials, find a spot that grabs your attention and start sketching! Other sketchers will appear through the afternoon carrying sketchbooks, pencils and pens. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are.
