Sunday 30th September Liffey Street Lower, the roof tops of Dublin, and Adelphi Bar

Sunday 30th September we'll be sketching around Liffey Street Lower from 2pm and meeting in the Adelphi Bar on Middle Abbey Street (opposite the back side of Arnotts) from 4pm to check out each other's work over a drink.

Something a bit different this week, we can sketch from the roof tops of Liffey Street Lower. To get access to the roof tops, you MUST arrive at 2pm sharp as we'll be "going up" at 2.05pm. We'll meet outside the Gin Palace on Lower Liffey Street.

If you are later than 2.05pm (which, it being Sunday, most of us usually are!), find something to sketch on ground level. There's plenty of life in the area, and good bars and coffee shops with large windows if the weather is not so hot.

From 4pm, we'll gather in the Adelphi on Middle Abbey Street (near Wigwam).

If you've not been out with Dublin Sketchers before, we're a relaxed and friendly bunch of folk who like to sketch and draw. Bring along your own gear (paper, drawing implements etc), pick something to sketch and get stuck in. You might spot other people sketching, so say hi, and meet everyone in the pub from 4pm.

Sketches from Capel Street Area 23-Sep-18

A friendly crowd gathered in and around Capel Street on Sunday to sketch in one of Dublin's more colourful neighbourhoods.  Afterwards, we gathered in Slattery's Pub to a cosy chat.  Here are our drawings.

Sunday 23rd September Capel Street

On Sunday 23rd Sept Dublin Sketchers will be out and about sketching from 2pm around Capel Street.

It's one of Dublin's oldest streets, with loads of character on the street itself and in the streets leading off it.

There's plenty of pubs / cafes with large windows if the weather is autumnal.

https://www.facebook.com/LoveIsArtAtelier is a lovely spot, with gorgeous cakes, but please, no more than 5 sketchers at a time in there as they are small.

We'll meet from 4pm in Slatterys Pub. There's plenty of room downstairs, and upstairs too.

If you have not been out before - Dublin Sketchers go out every Sunday and it's a casual afternoon. Come along between 2pm and 4pm, sketch what takes your fancy and find us in the pub to check out everyone else's work. Bring your own materials.

Culture Night - Friday 21 September

Hi everyone, we normally don't meet up on Fridays, but this Friday evening is Culture Night, with lots of locations not normally accessible to the public opening their doors! Great opportunity for sketching. Everywhere will be busy, so this is not going to be a normal sketching outing.

Pick your own location anywhere you want!

If you're indoors and it's busy, be aware that you may not be allowed to sit and deploy your full sketching kit. And you may be asked to move after a while. But most likely, people will be curious about your work and might even think you're part of the entertainment. So, enjoy!

We'll meet from 8pm onwards at the Duke on Duke Street. It probably will be busy. If it's your first time, look for people with a sketchbook, it's probably one of us. We might not even get a seat! We might even have a stand-up Drink and Draw!

As usual, bring your own materials etc. But bring minimum supplies - no big backpacks in crowded rooms.

Listing of participating locations is on the Culture Night website.

Note that Dublin Sketchers are not part of Culture Night. We're just taking the opportunity for a different sketching experience!

Sunday Sketching will happen as usual - notice will go up later this week.

Sketches from St Stephen's Green - 16 September 2018

Glorious weather again. Autumn colours starting to appear in St Stephen's Green. Lots of people about, tourists and locals. And even dancing at the bandstand.

Sunday 16th September St Stephens Green and Duke Pub

The Dublin Sketchers are heading out as usual on Sunday 16th September.

From 2pm we'll be sketching around Stephens Green. Outside if the weather is fine, or if its not so hot, the coffee shops in Stephens Green shopping Centre give great views down across the park, buildings and streets below.

From 4pm we'll gather in The Duke pub on Duke Street for a drink and to check out each others work.

If you've not been before - welcome! Bring along your own sketch book / paper and whatever tools you like for drawing / sketching and pick something you like the look of to draw and get stuck in. Keep an eye out for fellow sketchers and say hello! You'll meet everyone in the pub from 4pm - it's quite a big pub, so just look around for a likely looking bunch wielding sketch books.

Sketches from Grand Canal Dock - 9 September 2018

I think I can safely say that everyone enjoyed the afternoon at Grand Canal Dock and Bord Gais plaza. The sun was shining, the architecture and construction work was visually interesting, the area was busy with families and visitors alike.
And the Ferryman pub was buzzing with chats of pens, paper and urban sketching.
