Sunday 3rd August we're off to TALLAGHT - see details in the post below

helping out with making Dublin Sketchers Happen

Loads of people this year have helped to make the Dublin Sketchers happen! Each month, one person chooses the Sunday locations and spreads the word via email, this website and facebook.

If you'd like to contribute, we're looking for people to arrange locations for September and October. It's easy and great fun - it just takes about 15 minutes!

Do email dublinsketchers at gmail dot com if you want to help!

Sunday 3rd August - Tallaght

As we have an exhibition in Tallaght Library coming up, we thought that on Sunday 3rd August we'd go sketching in Tallaght. Meet outside the library at 2pm and back there again at 4pm to find a coffee shop. Rua Red coffee shop is closed, but there is one opposite, and Italian coffee shop, that is open on Sundays (I can't find the name on the google). It's near the Red Line Luas stop.

If you're new, just look out for friendly looking folk brandishing sketch pads and wander up and say hi. As its Sunday, we're not always the most timely bunch, so get stuck in with the drawing and find us all at 4pm!

SUNDAY 27 JULY - DUBLIN CASTLE (SAND SCULPTURES)

Sand Sculpture 2013

Hello all,

This Sunday we are going to meet at Dublin Castle.  It will be the opening day of their annual Sand Sculptures event which is always worth checking out.

We'll meet at the main entrance to Dublin Castle on Palace Street (beside Chez Max Restaurant) at 2pm.

We'll meet again at the same place at 4pm and decide where to go for coffee (maybe to the Dubh Linn Castle Cafe overlooking the castle gardens) where we can discuss our plans for an Sketcher's Exhibition in Tallaght Library in four weeks time.

Hope to see you there

SUNDAY 20 JULY - HERBERT PARK & THE RDS

This week we are going to meet at The Herbert Park Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

From there we can wander through Herbert Park or cross the bridge to sketch the RDS buildings.

We will meet at 2pm at the main entrance to the hotel.  If it's your first time, just keep a look out for people with sketchbooks - that's us

We'll meet again at 4pm at the same place for a coffee and a chat.
Hope to see you there.

From St Ann's Park

Lovely day out in St Ann's Park. It rained a little here and there, but most folks found some shelter to sketch. The cafe staff were really friendly, and didn't mind Carolina pouring her tea on her water colour paper! Lovely to see Phil from Pleine Air as well.

Sunday 6 July - Glasnevin Cemetry

Hi Sketchers,

This week we are going to Glasnevin Cemetary in Dublin 11.

There are more dead people buried in Glasnevin than living people in the whole of Dublin. Some of them are quite famous: like Daniel O Connell, Charles Stewart Parnell and Michael Collins. Read more at www.glasnevintrust.ie

We will meet at 2pm at the main entrance.  If it's your first time, just look out for other people with sketch books - that's us.

We'll meet again at 4pm at the main entrance and go for coffee or a pint at the famous Gravediggers Pub (aka John Kavanagh's).

Remember it's July so protect yourself from sunburn.

Hope to see you there.
