Ideas for the first Sunday in September! Autumn is in the air.

Hello all - that time of the week again - need ideas!!

I am getting a strong sense of Autumn this week, with the leaves beginning to change colours and the air a little cooler. Fighting the weather, I think we should try and enjoy the outdoors while we can. The Grand Canal is always beautiful and we are due a visit - any other suggestions?

Next week we are looking at arranging a visit to Powerscourt in Wicklow, namely to visit the Museum of Childhood but there are also the very beautiful gardens. Any thoughts on this welcome!

Sunday 28th Aug. Stephens Green and Photographic Exhib.

There was a great Photographic Exhibition on the railings this weekend, and Tracy O'B,  one of our Sketchers, was taking part.
Also, a very interesting body of work was produced by the Sketchers,  in spite of having to duck in and out of the showers.

Stephen's Green Arch at 2pm Sunday 28th August

Happy Friday everyone!

This Sunday the Dublin Sketchers will be heading to Stephen's Green - meeting at the arch opposite the shopping centre. The weather should be fine - according to the trusty forecast, though there may be the odd shower. The shopping centre is always there to provide shelter, should it be needed!

People's Photography is taking place this weekend so the Square will be lined with lots of photography - over 200 people are taking part (including myself.. so do say hello - I'll be at spot 314!)

The group will meet again at the arch at 4pm and most likely drop over to Kylemore in the shopping centre for a coffee. If you haven't been out with us before, just have a sketchpad in your hand and you'll be spotted. If you're late - just wander in and enjoy the time and meet up with the others at 4pm.

Enjoy!
Tracy

Ideas time again - Sunday sketching!

Hope you're all well and looking forward to a nice Sunday out with the Dublin Sketchers - where would you like to go?

I'll be at the People's Photography exhibition on Stephen's Green this weekend, so you are welcome to stop by and say hello - should be good!

Any other suggestions of places to visit?

The Kilmainham Arts Festival - 'a riot of colours, sounds and fun' will be taking place also this Saturday for anyone who would like to participate - they have invited the group along. More info on that here.

All suggestions and ideas welcome!

Two sketches of the same view

I thought it was interesting to snap these two interpretations of the same view together. Both very different, both charming!
James and I are off to Brazil for September, so we'll be back out sketching in October!

Plenty of sketches produced today out in Dun Laoghaire!

Further skecthes from Dun Laoghaire next the sea

John went for a dip in the Forty Foot after the session - brave man! The rest of us just curled our lips round a drink in the Forty Foot!

More from Dun Laoghaire on 21st Aug

Sketches from Dun Laoghaire - the chalk festival and beyond!

The rain just about held off for us, and we all headed in different directions and sketched the wonderful variety that is always to be found in Dun Laoghaire. Much enjoyable swapping of sketch pads over a drink in the Forty Foot Bar! I'm not as good at Mary as collecting people's names, but here are some sketches from today! We thought that perhaps John was in the Riveria, not Dun La La!

Dun Laoghaire festival season - Sunday 21st at 2pm

Hi all,

This week we will visit Dun Laoghaire for a trio of festivals - People's festival, the Chalk Festival and Ukulele Hooley by the Sea!

Meeting at 2pm at the DART station and again at the same place at 4pm. It'll no doubt be busy so if you don't see people there at 2pm or if you are late - sketch away and be back at the meeting point at 4pm.

Here's hoping the weather is kind! There was a suggestion of visiting Sandycove, which is also on the DART line, so if you'd like to go there do, but be back at the meeting point at 4pm in Dun Laoghaire for coffees!

If you want to go somewhere next week or any week - let us know! Always looking for ideas!

Sunday 21st August - Where do YOU want to go?!

Looking for ideas again - anything up your sleeve that you have planned on visiting but haven't gotten there yet this summer? Shout now!

So far suggested are Sandycove and the Latin American Festival in Temple Bar.

My suggestions to add to the mix are the Botanic Gardens and the Irish National Stud/Japanese Gardens. Would love to get to the Japanese gardens before the summer is out - but it may take a little organising etc.

Anyway, ideas please!!
