Merry Christmas!

Our last session of the year was on 16th December. We enjoyed roaming round the Flea Market, while others took on the wonderful architecture of the Light House cinema. After a coffee, we headed for a festive drink in Stoney Batter - here's a drawing from the pub! The rest of the work will be up later in the week.

We're on a break now til 6th January - see you on the other side!

Sunday 16th December - Block T and Dublin Flea Christmas Fair

The last Dublin Sketchers of the year is Sunday 16th December. We're off to Block T and Dublin Flea Christmas market that is taking place in Block T on Smithfield Square and also in a couple of empty shop units near by...

So, 2pm meet outside Block T and at 4pm we'll meet in the Light House Cinema Cafe. There'll be loads of stalls, food, probably some music and tonnes of people. It was most pleasant last year. After coffee, a drink in a local bar for festive cheer - we can decide on Sunday!

If you've not been before, you'll spot us easily as we'll be holding our sketch pads. Don't worry if you're late - just get stuck in with the drawing and find us in the Light House Cinema cafe at 4pm.

A couple of people each week kindly photograph everyone's work to put on the blog. Please help them out by PUTTING YOUR NAME on your sketch book or on EACH sketch you do! If you've got a camera and fancy helping out with photographing folks work - just get snapping on Sundays! You can either post them on www.dublinsketchers.com or email them to dublinsketchers@gmail.com and someone else can post them for you.

Sketches from Sweny's 9th December

A sociable afternoon was spent amidst the bottles and lotions of Sweny's Chemist. The chemist himself seems to have been a favourite subject. One brave soul drew outside, while another went over to the Yeats exhibition in the National Library.

Hi all,

This week we will meet at 2pm at the beautiful Sweny's Chemist. It's on Lincoln Place at the top of Westland Row near Pearse Street Dart Station.
Sweny's is mentioned in Ulysses and it has hardly changed in over 150 years so it is rather more interesting than your average chemist or bookshop. It's not a big place so space is limited to about 20 people at a time. It's indoors but can be a bit chilly so dress warm.
As Sweny's is run by volunteers to keep it open feel free to make a donation to help them out if you like - there's a little jar on the counter especially for that purpose.Cheers

Alternately if Sweny's is too crowded by us, people can go to the Science museum just down the road or as has been suggested by Sarah O'R visit the Christmas fair in docklands. We will meet again at 4pm for the usual coffee in the National Art Gallery cafe.

A Cosy afternoon in the Generator Hostel, with sketchers popping up all over the place! I'm getting to grips with a new camera, so apologies for any weirdness! Fair play to those who tackled the Jameson Bottle Chandeliers!
