Sunday 25 July - Sandymount Green and surrounding neighbourhood

On Sunday 25 July from 2pm  Dublin Sketchers will draw out and about on or near Sandymount Green. Or sketch in your own location if you prefer.

Remember to observe Covid rules. Also take any usual precautions against sun burn.

Rather than meeting in a cafe or pub, we'll gather in the park, Sandymount Green itself, at 4pm.

There's lots of options to pick up a coffee nearby.

If it's your first time, just come along with your materials and paper. Say hello to any fellow sketcher you see. Don't worry if you're late, we usually are!

Sandymount Green is an animated and pretty village green that was was laid out in the 19c. It is the birthplace of WB Yeats. Sandymount strand is the setting of 2 episodes of "Ulysses". There's (another) Martello tower on the seafront, views of Poolbeg peninsula with its twin chimneys.

There is a villa by Gandon in the nearby Rehab campus (although restored and looking perhaps too neat). There are plenty of other interesting villas, terraces & churches (including the Star of the Sea Church featured in Ulysses).

If you would like your sketch to be added to the website, email it to dublinsketchers@gmail.com or post it to the Dublin Sketchers social WhatsApp if you're on that. If you're on Instagram use #dublinsketchers - Please edit your image so it is low resolution and properly oriented.
