Sun 4th Feb looking down on Henry Street from Debenhams Cafe

On Sunday 4th Feb we'll get great aerial views across the roof tops around Henry Street, as well as looking down on the street life below, from the windows in the coffee shops on the 2nd floor of Debenhams.

The weather is currently predicted to be sunny, so you might prefer to explore the lively streets in the area.

Get stuck in with the sketching from 2pm and we'll meet for drinks at 4pm in the Costa Coffee Shop on the 2nd floor of Debenhams.

If it’s your first time out, don't worry if you're late as most of us usually are. You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. We're a friendly bunch, who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4pm.

This week's optional challenge is to sketch using your weaker hand.

Remember to buy a coffee or two if you spend hours sketching in the coffee shop!

Sketches from Smithfield on Sunday 29th Jan. 2018.

An interesting meet up today in Smithfield, though at first glance it appeared exceedingly quiet.  Not so, as we discovered once we ventured indoors!.. Also the Cobblestone hosted an amazing Traditional group of players  who kept us all entertained on this chilly January Day!

On Sunday the 28th of January Dublin Sketchers will sketch around Smithfield Square

Hi sketchers!

On Sunday the 28th of January Dublin Sketchers will sketch around Smithfield Square from 2pm and meet for drinks at 4pm at the Cobblestone.

Smithfield Square is a great spot to sketch. Walking around the square you'll find a huge variety of subjects such as the square in itself with it's impressive modern structures, the Old Jameson's Distillery chimney (try to sneak into the museum or at least go see the giant copper barrel at the entrance), The Generator Hostel, the Lighthouse cinema (kind of an interesting achitectural and colourfull place), the quays nearby and two vintage shops. The Cobblestone might not be open until 4pm, but if you manage to find a good sitting spot by then, you will be abble to sketch the open irish music session there.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

From 4pm, we'll gather for a drink at the Cobblestone, right on top of the square. A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.

This week's optional challenge is to sketch one person of the shops/cafes staff.
Hope to see you there!

On Sunday the 21 of January Dublin Sketchers will sketch at Token Dublin in Smithfield from 2pm and meet for drinks at 4pm at the cafe at the same address.

Token is a retro arcade and pinpall space where a colourfull fauna of retro gamers and arcade games lovers use to play on highly illustrated machines. The venue is vast and set on two floors, make sure you visit both and if you fancy, go for a Packman game between two sketches!

Take a look at Token's website if you want to know more about the place : https://tokendublin.ie/

From 4pm, we'll gather for a drink at Token's cafe on the grounf floor. A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.

This week's optional challenge is to sketch a videogame character of your choice.
Hope to see you there!
