Dublin Sketchers started in 2008 when Sarah O'Reilly had the idea to get together on a Sunday afternoon in Dublin city with other people who liked to draw / sketch / paint - however you want to call it. She had a simple vision - to be friendly and encourage anyone who wanted to come along. And that's what Dublin Sketchers is still about. Everyone helps out to make it happen.
Since 2017, Dublin Sketchers are part of the Urban Sketchers global community. They have a Manifesto which goes like this... We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel. Our drawings are a record of time and place. We are truthful to the scenes we witness. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles. We support each other and draw together. We share our drawings online. We show the world, one drawing at a time.
Which is more or less what Dublin Sketchers does, with our own take on things.
