We had a good crowd out for the last sketchers session of 2011 including some new faces.
Some lovely work done here. Apologies for any errors and omissions. Must write down names in future... Anyway a very Happy Christmas to everyone and to anyone we've not seen out in a while have a great one and hopefully we'll see more of each other for a really productive 2012. Cheers from the Dublin Sketchers

Generator Hostel Smithfield, 2pm

Hi all,

This is the last meet of 2011 so we will be sure to have a great day on Sunday. We've been invited to the warmth of the Genrator Hostel where we can sit indoors (yay!!) around the tables and challenge ourselves with portraits and whatever grabs your attention.

Meeting at 2pm as usual, at the Generator Hostel, Smithfield Square where we will draw for a couple of hours. We will then head for a few drinks to the Dice Bar - on the corner of Queen St. and Benburb St. in Smithfield.
Enjoy!!

Everyone is welcome - if you haven't been out with us before, this should be a nice setting for you to join.

Tracy

Katherine's sketches from Sunday 11th Dec

Katherine's sketches from today - she used the first pencil that came to hand. The lights in the cafe kept changing colour, which is why one sketch seems to be done on red paper!

Flea Mkt and Block T - more sketches

Stephen braved the cold to draw a street scene, Alex captured some people and Aurelie didn't sketch today, but here's a nice ink drawing she'd done before of some trees and flowers... James's sketch seemed to avoid the camera today....

Further sketches from Block T and the Flea

Alison found a comfy chair and drew the stairs, Keith drew people without drawing too much attention to himself, and Jessica wandered about and drew random objects and people.

Sketches from T Block and the Flea Market

A cold one today, but interesting to explore Block T and the Flea Market (with a whole section by NCAD students). Here is work by John (figures at a table), Des (interior with no humans!) Claudio (colourful creatures and a dress) and Catherine (faces and figures).

Dublin Flea & Block T Christmas Cracker 2011 Smithfield 2pm

2pm Dublin Flea & Block T Christmas Cracker 2011

1 Haymarket
Dublin 7

Yes it is another flea market but this time it's in Block-T creative arts space which is an interesting space in and of itself and seemingly the artists studios will be open to the public.

We will meet outside Block-T Art centre gallery space in Smithfield at 2pm. It's at the end nearest the river inside Smithfield Square.

If this is your first time we'll be the people with sketchbooks in our hands. If you're late just draw away whatever takes your fancy and we will meet again at the entrance to Block-T at 4pm and go for coffee together and show each other what we did, or even what we bought, might be handy for a christmas present even!

the blurb below is from the Block T website - thanks to Lia for this suggestion!

Having both just recently won accolades at the Dublin Living Awards 2011, Block T and Dublin Flea Market are teaming up again for another Christmas Cracker of a Market in Smithfield this December 10th & 11th.

This year is going to be even bigger and better as they move into.... BLOCK B... a vacant space directly opposite Block T on Smithfield Square. It will be Dublin’s biggest Christmas Market with 120 stalls spread over Block T and Block B.

Block T will be showcasing the best of Dublin’s Affordable Art with 30 local artists selling their work in addition to the 15 resident artists who have permanent studios in the building.

The studios will be open to the public for the weekend and the art will be accessible to even the tightest of wallets.

Block B will be made up of 90 ‘Flea Market’ stalls with an added Christmas kick. So all the usual bric-a-brac, clothes, furniture and trinkets you would find at the Flea with an injection of Christmas cheer in the form of crafts, creative thinking and off-the beaten-track present buying opportunities. As always the main focus is on small, local, Irish businesses and individuals who are doing great things in Dublin. This will be the most interesting andenjoyable place to shop for Christmas without going near the highstreet.
