Sunday 18th April 2021

This Sunday 18th April the Sketchers are going for something a bit different: industrial estates, factories, power plants etcetera. There are probably going to be some unusual, interesting and peculiar sketches, in areas that wouldn’t exactly be first choice when someone visits a city.

Of course the city doesn’t have to be Dublin: Google Street View can bring you anywhere!

The session, as usual, starts from 2pm and later, at 4pm, we'll meet on Zoom to show each other our work over a drink. You'll need the meeting ID and password to join. If you are on the Dublin Sketchers What'sApp group, you'll find the info there. If not, email dublinsketchers@gmail.com before noon on Sunday to ask for the details. There'll be a waiting room to join the Zoom, so wait a few minutes to join.

If you would like your sketch to be added to dublinsketchers.com please either post it to the WhatsApp Social Dublin Sketchers group or email it to dublinsketchers@gmail.com (jpeg format). Please make it low-res and properly orientated for posting to the website. If you're on Instagram, please include  #dublinsketchers in your post or tag us @dublin_sketchers!

Happy 13th Birthday Dublin Sketchers

It's around this time of year that Dublin Sketchers celebrates it's birthday.

This year Dublin Sketchers are 13 years old.

It's amazing that something that started as a small idea to get together on a Sunday afternoon to draw / sketch / paint has kept going for so long and welcomed so many people along.

So, just a big thanks to everyone for keeping on coming out and sketching and for helping to make it happen each week.

And particularly for everyone over the last year who has come up with great ideas to keep us sketching the city that we love.

Sketches produced last Sunday April 11th 2021, with the theme "Kitchen"!

Kitchen - Sunday 11th April 2021

“The place I like best in this world is the kitchen. No matter where it is, no matter what kind, if it’s a kitchen, if it’s a place where they make food, it’s fine with me. Ideally it should be well broken in. Lots of tea towels, dry and immaculate. Where tile catching the light (ting! Ting!)”
― Banana Yoshimoto, Kitchen

Very few places can talk about us like our kitchen, so this Sunday 11th April the Sketchers are going to show how their kitchen - or part of it - looks like through their work.

The session, as usual, starts at 2pm and later, at 4pm, we'll meet on Zoom to show each other our work over a drink. You'll need the meeting ID and password to join. Easter Sunday - 4th April 2021

On Sunday 4th April Dublin Sketcher will be in the city - any city you like, or town, or village - to virtually sketch our favourite terrace from a cafe, pub, restaurant.

All you need to do is to choose your place on Google Maps and then use Street View to find your preferred visual angle (like in the samples shown here).

Google Maps also offers the chance of visiting many cafes or other places inside, thus if you want you could choose that option too.

There will be no Zoom meeting this Sunday!

Let’s sketch, and happy Easter!
