Sketches by Faye Tucker at the Soul Festival - Merrion Square.
Dublin Sketchers get together every Sunday afternoon in Dublin to sketch. We go to a different place each week. Check here before hand to see where we are off to. Come along if you fancy it! We start sketching from 2pm and meet at 4pm for a drink and chat. We are part of the global Urban Sketchers community.
Sunday 29th May
Firstly well done to all of the exhibitors who have sent in photos of their work. This year's exhibition looks set to be fantastic. I hope to see all of you there (with your friends, family, crazy art fan neighbour). Don't forget now, it's on this Friday the 3rd starting at 6:30 in Sol Art Gallery, Dawson Street. Let us know if there is anyway you can help out and go invite all of your friends on the facebook for example :)
Now then, let's got to the Soul Picnic this weekend!! Yaaay!!!
"The Soul Picnic – a little piece of magic in association with Dublin City Council. Sunday the 29th of May in Merrion Square Park. Enjoy the world’s best music concert in a picnic style starring an exciting line-up of amazing local, national and international artists. Much more than a music event, enjoy tasty treats and BBQ food from our vendors. Entry is free, but don’t forget to make a donation. Special guests to be announced."

Hopefully the weather will hold out and we can spend a couple of hours sitting on the grass and drawing the sights. It's on in Merrion Sq. park. We'll meet just inside the park at 2:00 and again at 4:00. If in doubt just check for idle people standing about with sketchpads, that'll be us :D

Any Ideas for Sunday 29th
Ok any ideas welcome. Weather on Sunday at this time is predicted to be cloudy with sunny spells.
It would be great to go somewhere new so get your thinking caps on folks! : )
Somebody recently suggested St.Patricks Cathedral Park and that general area is quite interesting, plus it has been an absolute age since Sketchers were there last.

Work from IMMA
Sunday 22rd May - IMMA Frida Kahlo
Hello all!
This Sunday we are visiting the IMMA museum in Kilmainham - where the Frida Kahlo exhibition is currently running. The IMMA has some amazing grounds and gardens, plus the architecture of the old Royal Hospital itself. There is a charge into the Friday Kahlo area within the IMMA - so entering this area is up to you.
The Sketchers will meet at 2pm in the Courtyard and then again after sketching at 4pm in the cafe downstairs to discuss works done over coffee and buns.
Everyone is welcome - if you haven't been out with us before have a sketchpad out and we will spot you!
Also - as preperations are underway for the exhibition, the Art and Hobby Shop have kindly offered us their support. See details in this weeks email!
See you on Sunday!

Exhibition preparations!
Hi all,
Just a quick update! We are currently preparing for our upcoming exhibition which will be opening on Friday 3rd of June in the Sol Art Gallery. We would just like to ask if any of our members or readers have any suggestions, advice or sponsorship offers to get in touch with us.
A huge thanks to the Art and Hobby shop whom have been very supportive to our artists in the run up to the exhibition! Details will be announced in our mail tomorrow.
An event page has been created on Facebook - which is open for everyone to invite friends and family.
We are very excited and can't wait to see all of the amazing work - less than two weeks away now!
For anyone who is not exhibiting but who would like to submit a photograph of work that they have done with us over the past few years - we will have a slideshow of member's artwork projected onto a gallery wall for the opening night. If you would like to be included in this - send us an image to our email address as soon as possible.

Sunday 15th May
Hey now, how's the form?
With the changability of the weather out there lets go back to a tried and tested favourite in the Collins Barracks. Currently it has the Irish high cross replicas on display along with vintage Irish clothing and the like. Just the thing for it! The High Crosses just got back from Japan where they were viewed by over 2 million people. The centrepiece is 6.5 metres high and looks fantastic. The museum is conveniently located at the Museum luas stop on the Red line. We'll meet there at two and again in the museum cafe at four.
By the way, keep the 3rd of June free for the opening night of our annual sketchers' exhibition in Sol Art Gallery. I'll be posting more details closer to the event. If you want to help out in any way please send a mail to dublinsketchers.

Stephen
