Sunday 27th July - Iveagh Gardens

On Sunday 27th July Dublin Sketchers will be gathering in and around the Iveagh Gardens from 14h. There is lots of inspiration for sketching like the fountains, a rosarium, small maze and a water cascade!

In these gardens one can usually enjoy meditative atmosphere, or have a picnic on a sunny day. In summertime however it can get loud! It's a great place for live gigs and festivals. This is the case this Sunday - so please note that the only gate open for public will be from the Hatch Street.

Bring your sketchbook and pens, pencils etc! If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are!

From 4pm, we will be gathering for a drink and to enjoy each other’s sketches at the bar area of Iveagh Gardens Hotel, 72-74 Harcourt Street (D02 Y282). A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.

If you would like your sketch to be added to the website, email it to dublinsketchers@gmail.com or post it to the Dublin Sketchers Social WhatsApp group if you are on that platform. Please edit your image so that it is low res and properly oriented for posting to the website. If you are posting your sketch on Instagram please #dublinsketchers #urbansketchers

Hope to see you there!

As part of the South Docks Festival, we’ll be putting together a small exhibition featuring sketches from this session. The artwork will be displayed at the Bank of Ireland, Grand Canal Dock from Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th July. Afterwards, sketches will be exhibited for a few more days at the St Andrew’s Resource Centre. If you'd like to contribute to the exhibition, please bring a loose A4 or A5 sheet to sketch on — this will help us hang the drawings more easily.

Hope to see you there!

Sunday 13th July - Secret Garden - Blessington Street Park

This Sunday 13th July Dublin Sketchers will be meeting at a secret garden - the Blessington Street Basin from 14h. Let’s enjoy this glorious weather by the water and meet up for drinks at McGowan’s of Phibsborough from 16h.

From the east side the basin can be accessed from the Blessington street. If you are coming from Phibsborough, you'll find a small door in the wall of Royal Canal Bank.

McGowan's Pub is located on Phibsborough Road, Dublin 7 (D07 A562)

You can find lots of inspiration for sketching - like the Tudor-style gate lodge, small central island - or ducks.
