Very late sketches from Howth

Hi - sorry I'm only getting mine up now. Won't make it to viking festival today, but went along yesterday and can really recommend the free walking tours... enjoy.

Sunday 22nd - Wood Quay, Dublin Viking Festival

Hi all,

This week the Dublin Viking Festival has been the popular choice of where to head this Sunday. The Festival has a website here with lots of information, but I think it is also good to remember that there are lots of other areas in the Wood Quay area that could be perfect for spending some time. (St. Audeon's Church, Christchurch, St. Patrick's Cathedral and the River area in general.)

So, the group will meet at 2pm - at the entrace to the Dublin City Council grounds where the festival is taking place - just off Winetavern Street. Map here!

Everyone is welcome, have a sketchpad out if you haven't met up with the Group before and you will be spotted and welcomed!

Enjoy!

Sunday 22nd - where to go?

Hi all,

Well, Howth looks like it was a great day looking at the work done! Thanks again for posting the pics!

Any ideas for this Sunday? The Heritage Festival is underway and there are a number of events across the city, including Marlay Park, Airfield House in Dundrum and Cabinteely House.

Or, a trip to Dublin Port could be really nice..

Any other ideas??

Howth Sketching session

The final painting, very simple style. It was a dark overcast day when I went back on Tuesday and this was done just before it pissed it down.

A few thumbnail sketches from today. Hope to return to Howth soon to do up a painting based on the sketch of the Martello tower.

Howth @ 2pm Sunday 15th

Hi all,

This Sunday we will meet at the Bloody Stream pub/entrance to the Howth DART Station at 2pm. Hopefully the weather will be kind! Might as well make the best of the summer and get to some nice outdoors locations while we can. Meet up again at 4pm at the same spot for coffee/seafood!

Its been ages since we visited Howth and there is so much to sketch/paint out there.

I can't make it again this week as I am up the walls but I'm sure I'll be mad jealous when I see the work done! Thanks a million for putting up the pictures during the week - it really is great to see! Anyone who hasn't been out with us - don't be shy just have a sketchpad out and you won't be ignored!

More sketches from Trinners

I'm really impressed by all the work from Sunday posted so far - very high quality stuff. I really enjoyed the session at Trinity, despite arriving late and having a thumping headache (probably should have just stayed at home, but the weather was so nice!). You forget what a great spot Trinity is for sketching - all those tourists milling about and those gorgeous old buildings... anyway, my doodly sketches below...

Sunday 8th August - Trinity College

Trinity Campanile by Jacqueline Holohan

Hi all,

This week we will visit Trinity College - nice and central and a huge diversity of things to catch your eye. Meet up at the Campanile (in the picture above!) at 2pm and back in that spot again at 4pm to go and have coffee nearby.

I won't be around tomorrow as I am away at the moment, hence the late email - apologies!! Hope the weather is kind, have fun! Anyone that hasn't been out with us before, simply have a sketch pad in your hand and you won't be missed!

Any last minute suggestions for this Sunday?

Hi all,

Have been really busy this week - had an excellent break at the Art in the Open Plein Air festival in Wexford, just recovering! A truly fantastic weekend, I have some photos I will put up but am delighted to say that all 3 of us managed to sell a painting and are thrilled. In case anyone hasn't seen the Plein Eire website it is linked on the right side of our homepage.

So - back to business!! Any ideas for sketching this Sunday? I just checked the forecast and it says it will be dry and sunny 19degrees.. so I say make the best of it. We could hit Howth, Sandymount, the Canal area if we want to stay central or perhaps spend some time in Phoenix park as it is beautiful in the sun.

Please post ideas or it will be a random choice!
