Glasnevin Cemetery - 2pm Sunday 3rd July

It's been on the back burner for a long time - so no time like the present! It's off to Glasnevin Cemetery with us this Sunday - all meeting at 2pm at the main entrance. We'll sketch for 2 hours and meet again at that entrance at 4pm. I'm not sure about coffee's etc. but we'll play it by ear to see what is available in the area.

The cemetery is the largest nondenominational cemetery and first opened in 1832. There is lots of information on the Wiki page - here. It contains many historically interesting monuments as well as the graves of many of Ireland's most prominent national figures — Pádraig Ó Domhnaill, Charles Stewart Parnell and Daniel O'Connell as well as Michael Collins, Éamon de Valera, Arthur Griffith, Maude Gonne, Kevin Barry, Sir Roger Casement, Charles Gavan Duffy, George Gavan Duffy, Constance Markiewicz, Brendan Behan, Seán MacBride, Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa, Christy Brown, Frank Duff, Luke Kelly of the Dubliners.

Lots to see in otherwords!  There is a great map here to give you an idea of the cemetery layout - in case you don't want to miss any particular aspect.

Here's hoping the weather will stay fine. If you haven't been out with us before - just have a sketchpad in your hand and we will recognise you. If you are late - don't worry - just wander in and you are bound to see us dotted about, sketch away as you like and meet us again at 4pm at the entrance.

See you there!
