Dublin Sketchers Sun 4th July at Rathfarnham Castle from 2pm

On Sunday 4th July from 2pm Dublin Sketchers will be out and about around Rathfarnham Castle to sketch or sketch locally to you if you prefer.

Please remember to observe covid rules.

Rather than meeting in a pub or coffee shop, we'll gather outside and suitably distant to catch up and show each other our drawings and sketches. At 4pm on Sun 4th July,  we'll gather in the grounds of Rathfarnham Castle near the sweeping front steps of the Castle. Coffee available at castle and in village.

If it's your first time, just come along from 2pm with your materials and paper/sketchbook. Say hello to any fellow sketcher you see. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know when we get together at 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are!

Rathfarnham Castle is a large fortified house of 1583 with 4 flanking towers. It got makeovers in the 18th centure with famous interiors by James Stuart and Wm Chambers, but there are also  rooms with earlier rococo plasterwork, and some vestiges of the Elizabethan interior. For those who prefer a street scene, there's also neighbouring Rathfarnham village. There is a Georgian church (1780, tower and transepts 1820s). If you like more ornate buildings, at the north end of the village you'll find the church of the Annunciation (Ashlin 1870s) and the Yellow house pub (1880).

If you can't make it into Rathfarnham Castle, then why not stay local and sketch in your Dublin neighbourhood.

If you would like your sketch to be added to the website, email it to dublinsketchers @ gmail .com or post it to the Dublin Sketchers Social WhatsApp group if you are on that. Please edit your image so that it is low res and properly oriented for posting to the website. If you're on Instagram, use #dublinsketchers #urbansketchers

Looking forward to seeing you there.
