7th Aug 2022- St. Audoen's Park
On Sunday the 7th Aug, Dublin Sketchers will sketch around St. Audoen's Park from 2pm and meet for drinks at 4pm in The Brazen Head. There are lots of good spots to draw from. If you looking for somewhere indoor to draw from, Brazen Head itself is a nice place and one of the oldest Irish Pub dating back to 1198 A.D.
History of the place St. Audoen's park lies beside St. Audoen's Church which was built in 1300 A.D. It is the only remaining parish church from that time. The church is dedicated to St Ouen, the 7th century bishop of Rouen and patron saint of Normandy. The park features Dublin’s original stone walls (1100 A.D.), the last surviving entrance to the old city and Fagan’s Gate which was named after the nearby Fagan’s Tower. If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.
