Further drawings from Collins Barracks

Balaz braved it outside and then drew some characters in the coffee shop. Jane did a lovely wee exterior drawing - the courtyard was popular today. Nicole did a study of a Japanese figure, while Mary focussed on a table. Phil captured the Guinness factory on a November day, and also did a nice loose exterior drawing. John went for variety - coffee shop gossipers, and anvil and a cot (you can feel it rocking!).

Sketches from Collins Barracks!

A fine gathering of sketchers yesterday, some of who were brave enough to do some outdoor sketching - what a mild day for the end of November! Two or three people ventured into the Puppet presentation which was about some of the statutes on O'Connell Street (all men!) and then fine chat and exchange of sketch books in the coffee shop - which said it was only open til 4pm, but luckily for us stayed open til 5pm. The scones smelt divine!

Here we have some furniture studies by Brice, three pencil drawings by Des, and three soldiers - the first by Ann and the other two by Maura - all of them full of life!

Collins Barracks and Moving Statues.. Sunday 20th @2pm

Hi all,

This Sunday we arevisitng the Collins Barracks - National Museum. There is a special event taking place at 3pm - for 45 minutes -  "Moving Statues" which features gigantic puppets and is inspired by the statues on Dublin’s O’Connell Street and their stories. Special guest star is Maisie, a true, blue Dub. Places are limited and allocated on a first come basis, from 1 hour before event starts. http://www.museum.ie/en/list/calendar-of-events.aspx?eventID=2538

We will meet at 2pm, in the courtyard and you can choose to go visit the Moving Statues at 3pm, or sketch throughout the museum until 4pm. We will then all meet up in the cafe for coffee:-) If you haven't met with us before, just have a sketchpad in you hand!

Dalkey Castle - Sunday 13th Nov. 2pm

Hi all,

This Sunday we are going somewhere new! Thanks to Joerg and the Dublin Free Events Guide for inspiration!

There is a Winter Fair happening in Dalkey Castle, a free event - a showcase of Irish crafts and design. We've never visited Dalkey and it is a lovely area, so we'll meet at the Castle at 2pm, sketchpad in hand and work away for a couple of hours. Meet again at 4pm back at the Castle and decide from there where to go for coffees.

Natural History Museum - Sunday 2pm - Merrion Square entrance

Hi all,

We will meet at 2pm at the main entrance - if you are late or don't see anyone around, go in and take a look - we're hard to miss with our sketchpads out!

We will all meet again at 4pm back at the entrance and go for coffee in the cafe of the National Gallery next door.
