Many many thanks to the Bluebell Community Development Project and the Dublin City Council Culture Company for inviting us and allowing us to sketch during the rehearsals, and most importantly, a big thank you to all the local men and women who invested so much of their soul into this adventure and made us feel so welcome. You are all heroes!

Sun 15th Sept - Between George Bernard Shaw Pub and Grand Canal

On Sunday the 15th September Dublin Sketchers will sketch around Richmond Street
South between the George Bernard Shaw pub and the ah sure its Grand Canal.

The Bernard Shaw pub, bit of a Dublin institution at this stage, is closing
at the end of the month. With murals, amazing facade, lively outdoor area with the
Pizza Bus as well as Eat Yard, not to mention it's interior, it'll be a great place to sketch.

Richmond Street South has interesting shop fronts, cafes and pubs in a rapidly
changing area with new buildings being thrown up.

We sketch from 2pm and will meet in the Portobello Pub on the corner of
Charlemont Mall and Richmond Street South at 4pm. Just look out for folk with a drink
in one hand and a sketch book in the other.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, pick something to
sketch / draw / paint and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hi.

Don't worry if you're late, it's Sunday, we all will be. You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc. It's a casual afternoon and a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4pm.

This week's optional challenge is to capture the spirit of the George Bernard Shaw
n your sketch book.

Friday 13th September from 7pm - sketch in Hughes bar, 19 Chancery St, Smithfield

On Friday 13th September, from 7pm, we will be sketching in Hughes bar, 19 Chancery St. They often play traditional music on a Friday night and it's a quiet local pub with a relaxed atmosphere. A perfect spot for sketching!

As there will be no life drawing with Dublin Drawing that evening, this is a great opportunity to sketch fully-clothed models - some of the models from Dublin Drawing might join in, or you can sketch the person sitting in front of you, or the musicians, or your pint even. Nothing too serious. Just drink and draw. Or take part in a sketch duel!

Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. We're a friendly crowd. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc. (probably best to leave your charcoal at home, though!)

The nearest Luas stop is Four Courts on the Red line. It's a ten-minute walk from the O'Connell GPO Luas stop on O'Connell Street

(PS: if you're interested in Life Drawing, check out Dublin Drawing's website - they draw at Pulse College nearby every Wednesday and Friday evening and sometimes on Sundays. And they're also a friendly crowd!)

Sunday 8th Sept sketching around Capel Street

On Sunday the 8th September Dublin Sketchers will sketch around Capel Street from 2pm.

It's a vibrant area with loads happening on Capel Street itself as well as side streets to explore.

Plenty of coffees shops and bars with big windows looking out.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch / draw / paint and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hi.

From 4pm, we'll gather for a drink at Slattery's Pub https://slatterys.bar/. Just look out for folk with a drink in one hand and a sketch book in the other.

This week's optional challenge is to weave a wiff of autumn into your creative output.
