Sunday 14th July - Laya Healthcare Summer Festival

On Sunday 14^th July, Dublin Sketchers will be sketching in and around Merrion Square.

There'll be plenty to sketch as the Laya Healthcare Summer Festival is on.

Fingers crossed that the weather will be glorious.

From 4 o’clock we will meet in McGrattan’s Bar, 76 Fitzwilliam Lane.

If it is your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2PM just chose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It’s a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4PM. Don’t worry if you’re late, most of us usually are!

You need to bring your own art supplies. Look forward to seeing you then.

Sketches from Temple Bar Gallery + Studios

We were invited by the Temple Bar Gallery + Studios for their Summer School weekend. They gave us access to their wonderful terrace with views over Dublin rooftops. Then we met in their gallery space to chat about urban sketching, paper and pens.

Sunday 7th July - Temple Bar area and Temple Bar Gallery

On Sunday 7th of July the Dublin sketchers will be sketching in the Temple Bar area from 2pm.

We have been invited by the Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, where we will be able to sketch from their terrace with interesting views of the area.

The Temple Bar Gallery + Studios are running a Summer School from the 4th to 7th of July and at 4 pm on Sunday, we will meet in their gallery space and share our sketches as we usually do. They are at 5-9 Temple Bar.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2 pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know from 4 pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

Sun 31 June at Dublin Docklands

On Sunday the 31st of June Dublin Sketchers will sketch in Dublin Docklands from 2pm.

Explore down along the Liffey and the IFSC area with your sketch book.

Weigh bridges, cranes, boats and hopefully sparkling water!

From 4 o’clock, we will gather in the Gibson hotel where they have an amazing balcony that overlooks the docks. Take lift up to the reception floor and look out for a bunch of sketchbooks.

On Sunday the 23rd of June Dublin Sketchers will sketch in St Anne’s Park Raheny from 2pm

There's plenty to see and sketch – lots of little follies, roses, landscape – and if these are not your thing, you could head over to Bull Island.

From 4 o’clock, we will gather in Olives café at the Red Stables for coffee and a chat.

Invite to submit sketches for The Dublin Art Book, to be published in the UK.

Update: Good news! The Final date is now Wednesday 26th June 2019.

Hi Dublin Sketchers.

Some time ago we were invited to contribute to the new publication By Emma Bennett, which will be called the Dublin Art Book. It follows a series of the The Cambridge Art Book, The Oxford Art Book, and also The Edinburgh Art Book and The Liverpool Art book which will be published this year.
As some of you may have already contributed your work to the Dublin Art Book, this is just a timely! reminder that just in case some more of you would be happy to send in some of your sketches.
The last day to send in has now been extended to Wednesday 26th. June 21019.

The website is: http://www.thedublinartbook.co.uk/index.html and basically you can submit up to 12 images free for consideration and the final selection for publication chosen by a panel of local art and city experts.

SUNDAY 16th JUNE 2019 – BLOOMSDAY

On Sunday the 16th of June from 2pm Dublin Sketchers will sketch between the Garden of Remembrance and the park at Mountjoy Square, taking in that very Joycean route along Gardener Row/ Great Denmark Street and taking in the exhibition of notebooks by some of our members at the Olivier Cornet Gallery (3 Great Denmark Street, D.1) in honour of Bloomsday. The gallery will also have a performance which starts at 3pm and there will be a cheese tasting.

From 4 o’clock, we will gather in the Old Music House for coffee and a chat.

If the weather is truly terrible, you can also take refuge in the Hugh Lane Gallery.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello.
