Dublin Sketchers get together every Sunday afternoon in Dublin to sketch. We go to a different place each week. Check here before hand to see where we are off to. Come along if you fancy it! We start sketching from 2pm and meet at 4pm for a drink and chat. We are part of the global Urban Sketchers community.

On Sunday 8th May, from 2pm, Dublin Sketchers will be around Royal Canal Terrace/ kings inns/ TUD Grangegorman
Above is another image from a Malton Print of Dublin. This is a view which no longer exists but as you can see, there are some recognisable elements.
TUD Grangegorman campus is right beside this and is a very interesting area as also is the Kings Inns. There is also a very fine 1946 factory building called Hendrons which is in reinforced concrete.
Lots of choice! The weather is set to be good so it is suggested to meet externally near the “ Happy Days Coffee van “ on the TUD campus from 4 pm : they are meant to be open until 6 but previous experience is that it is earlier .
If it's your first time and you can't spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello.
It's a friendly crowd who you'll get to know when we get together at 4pm.
This area is right beside the Broadstone Luas stop.
Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

A new view of College Green - Sunday 1st May from 2pm

On Sunday 1st May, from 2pm, Dublin Sketchers will be around College Green.
Above is an image from a Malton Print of Dublin. This is one of the few views of Dublin that is (relatively) unaltered- but the poor Irish Yeast company is looking rather sad! The prints had relatively minimum colour -often showing the fashionable lemon yellow.
It is suggested that we might do a modern day version of this area - more colourful perhaps ? or on a tablet? or perhaps some might like to romanticise it a little !
