DUBLIN SKETCHERS SUNDAY 22nd MAY 2022 @MERRION SQUARE

Sunday 22 May, from 2pm, we'll be sketching around Merrion Square.

In 1762, “A plan of Merrion Street and the the adjacent Neighbourhood “ by jonathan Barker was produced from the National Archives

In 1853, the Great Industrial Exhibition was held - the frontage onto Merrion Square was 300 feet , was constructed by Richard Turner and funded by William Dargan

Back in 2018, there was an exhibition called
“ Drawing Dublin” in the National Gallery curated by Anne Hodge and Niamh Mac Nally. - they showed Malton prints, Jack B yeats, Harry Kernoff. Micheal Healy watercolours of people, Flora Mitchell, Walter Osborne, Sarah Purser

THIS SUNDAY, THERE IS AN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF LITERATURE IN SQUARE -PEOPLE, BUILDINGS, HISTORY - LOTS TO DRAW!

If it's your first time and you can't spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello.
It's a friendly crowd who you'll get to know when we get together at 4pm. Suggested venue is
Gallery Cafe in the National gallery ( closes at 5) Forecast : rain !

Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.
If you would like your sketch to be added to the website, email to: dublinsketchers @ gmail .com or post it to the Dublin Sketchers Social WhatsApp group if you are on that.

Please edit your image so that it is low res and properly oriented for posting to the website. If you're on Instagram, use#dublinsketchers #urbansketchers

Looking forward to seeing you there.
