Regatta in Dun Laoghaire - Sunday 10th July

Hi all,

This Sunday the weather man says will be dry - 0.01mm of rain and sunny spells with some cloud. So I say we hope he's right and go to Dun Laoghaire - to see the 2011 Regatta!

Meet at the DART station entrance at 2pm - if anyone is late don't worry - we will meet again at 4pm at the same place. Then we can head for coffee's, drinks or whatever takes our fancy!

Here's hoping the sun shines - Dun Laoghaire is a favourite spot of Dublin Sketchers :-)

See you there I hope,
Tracy

Article on Dublin Sketchers by Sara

Hi all - those who were sketching in Glasnevin on Sunday met Sara Marilungo who interviewed many and observed the days work. Here is her article. Unfortunately it is in Italian - but you can use Google's translation tool to help you understand it!

Final sketches from Glasnevin Today!

Here we have Harry proudly displaying his painting, a fine acrylic painting, some detailed drawings and my colourful homage to Caitriona!

More from Glasnevin

Here is some more work from Glasnevin Cemetry from our session on Sunday 3rd July. I can recognise Des, James and Sally's work here, and some lovely ink and pencil work from people out for the first time!

Glasnevin Cemetry

If there is such a thing as a perfect day to visit a cemetry, today would have been it! Wonderful weather and a great turn out. I think I managed to snap most people's work (but failed to note everyone's name, Sorry!) so see if you can identify who drew what..... The Galvinator was playing with his I pad, but I didn't manage to photograph what his out put was!

Glasnevin Cemetery - 2pm Sunday 3rd July

It's been on the back burner for a long time - so no time like the present! It's off to Glasnevin Cemetery with us this Sunday - all meeting at 2pm at the main entrance. We'll sketch for 2 hours and meet again at that entrance at 4pm. I'm not sure about coffee's etc. but we'll play it by ear to see what is available in the area.

The cemetery is the largest nondenominational cemetery and first opened in 1832. There is lots of information on the Wiki page - here. It contains many historically interesting monuments as well as the graves of many of Ireland's most prominent national figures — Pádraig Ó Domhnaill, Charles Stewart Parnell and Daniel O'Connell as well as Michael Collins, Éamon de Valera, Arthur Griffith, Maude Gonne, Kevin Barry, Sir Roger Casement, Charles Gavan Duffy, George Gavan Duffy, Constance Markiewicz, Brendan Behan, Seán MacBride, Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa, Christy Brown, Frank Duff, Luke Kelly of the Dubliners.

Lots to see in otherwords!  There is a great map here to give you an idea of the cemetery layout - in case you don't want to miss any particular aspect.

Here's hoping the weather will stay fine. If you haven't been out with us before - just have a sketchpad in your hand and we will recognise you. If you are late - don't worry - just wander in and you are bound to see us dotted about, sketch away as you like and meet us again at 4pm at the entrance.

See you there!
Tracy

Glendalough Upper Lake - Plein Eire SE 26th June 2011

Struggled with the painting outdoors - but better get in the practice before the festival the end of July!! Can't wait now - was great to meet up with the South East gang.

Some Pics from Glendalough with our Plein Eire compadres

It was a smashing day today in Glendalough but we were really tired from the heat and the midges by coffee time. Here's what Jessica and myself got up to anyway. Look forward to seeing what people did from Trinity. Get posting. Don't forget to watch out for Capital D on Thursday at 7pm on RTE 1 featuring...the Dublin Sketchers! : )

Sunday 26th: Glendalough Paint-out for some, Trinity College for those in Dublin

Hi all,

This Sunday there is a Paint out organised through the Plein Eire group which Dublin Sketchers have all been invited to go along to - I hope to drive down on Sunday morning and be there for about 11am. All details are on the Plein Eire website - http://www.pleineire.ning.com/ If you are later arriving that's no problem, you'll see us with our easels - hard to miss. I'd advise to bring gear for the weather - whether that be sunscreen if we believe the forecast, or rain gear! Also, some drinks/sammidges - but there are places to get food down there too if you wish.

A bus goes to Glendalough directly - there are a few people driving so leave a comment here if you are looking for a drive.. my car is now full though!
There will still be a meetup in Dublin on Sunday in Trinity College - meeting at the main arch facing College Green at 2pm. The plan will be to meet again at the arch at 4pm and go for coffees.
Here's hoping the weather holds up for us all!

Have a great weekend,
Tracy
