March 29th, Grand Canal Dock

On Sunday the 29th of March Dublin Sketchers will sketch around Grand Canal Dock from 2pm and meet for drinks at 4pm at the Daphni bar in Bolands Mills, Barrow Street.

Grand Canal Dock represents a unique convergence of Dublin's 18th-century maritime industrial roots and its 21st-century status as a global technology hub. Once the world's largest dockland when it opened in 1796, it has been transformed from a derelict industrial zone into a vibrant cultural and architectural district often nicknamed "Silicon Docks".

Points of interest: Boland’s Mills, The Graving Docks, The Gasworks Chimney, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Grand Canal Square, Samuel Beckett Bridge and the vistas from quays of the Liffey, Alto Vetro & Google Docks including the 66-meter Montevetro building
If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone at 2pm, just choose something to sketch and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. It's a friendly crowd who you’ll get to know over a drink from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

From 4pm, we'll gather for a drink and to enjoy each other’s sketches in the Daphni Bar at Bolands Mills. A bunch of sketchers will magically appear.
