Grand Canal, Mespil Road @2pm

Hi there everyone!

Hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to a nice Sunday of sketching! This week we will spend a couple of hours taking in the Autumn delights of the Grand Canal - meeting up at 2pm just outside Starbucks on the Mespil Road (just up from Baggott Street).

If some of the group find the weather too cold or wet they can stay indoors and sketch there! We will all meet again inside Starbucks at 4pm. For those who fancy a drink or some fish and chips there are ideal places just next door!

Until then have a nice weekend and for anyone who hasn't been out with us before - just have a sketchpad in your hand and we will spot you!

Suggestions for sketching next Sunday?

Any thoughts? might be better to keep it indoors as it's gotten a little bit cooler outside!

Sunday in Dubh Linn Gardens @2pm

This week we will head to the Dubh Linn Gardens (the original place of the dubh linn, the dark pool which gave Dublin its name!) - located behind Dublin Castle. Link to lots of info here - if the weather is bad we can just pop into Dublin Castle itself or the Chester Beatty which is always interesting. St. Audeon's Church and gardens are also nearby if you want a wander!
We will meet at the entrance to Dublin Castle - there are archways - we will be there at 2pm. If you are late, just wander into the gardens and I'm sure you'll see people sketching away.

We'll meet again at 4pm or thereabouts in the cafe of the Chester Beatty which has nice cake!
Everyone is welcome - for those who haven't been out with us before, just have a sketchpad in your hand. The gardens are best accessed from Dame Street - check google maps here for exact location! If you need anything just send us a mail before Sunday!

See you then!

More from Sunday at the Phoenix park

I went into the zoo and drew these characters - I like the gorilla(Harry) the best as a drawing. The two orangutangs actually came over squashing their faces against the glass to have a look at the drawing process which they seemed fascinated by - the same thing happened last time at the zoo.

Ideas for Sunday's sketching please!

Post up any ideas you have - indoor/outdoor - anyone in touch with weather gods these days?!

Might be good to keep it nice and central this week?

Sketch from Phoenix Park

sketches done on Sunday

I tried experimenting with watercolours/ water soluble technical pens and blotting paper and here's what happened..what love to try again with proper paper if i can get some nice photos to work from :)

Meeting at 2pm - outside Dublin Zoo, Phoenix Park!

Hi all,

Isn't it only lovely outside - so to celebrate we're going to visit Phoenix Park this Sunday and hope that the fine weather predicted won't let us down! A number of people have shown an interest in visiting the zoo - while others weren't so sure - so a compromise has been reached!

We will all meet just outside the entrance to the zoo at 2pm - those who wish to go inside sketching can do so and those who prefer to wander around Phoenix Park in general will do that. We will all then meet up again at the same place at 4pm - I think it would be really nice to bring some sandwiches/munchies etc. and we can have a picnic of sorts afterwards as there isn't really much choice in cafe's in that neck of the woods!

Here's a link to a map of Phoenix Park - there's lots to see! Any newcomers try to be on time - as it's a big place so might be hard to find us once we've left the meet-up location! Have a sketchpad in your hand and we'll spot you. Hope to see you there,

Tracy

Suggestions for sketching this weekend?
