Hi all
As per James email, here's a suggestion for Sunday's Sketch - there's a lively food market in the Peoples Park on Sunday afternoons from 12 until 4pm. This only works if the weather's fine of course! It's right beside the sea near Sandycove, so there are plenty of other spots too. Theres a nice teahouse in the park itself and a café called Walters nearby for after-sketch coffe & chat .
Forgot to mention it's the People's Park Dun Loaghaire!

Dublin Sketchers get together every Sunday afternoon in Dublin to sketch. We go to a different place each week. Check here before hand to see where we are off to. Come along if you fancy it! We start sketching from 2pm and meet at 4pm for a drink and chat. We are part of the global Urban Sketchers community.

Weather report as of noon fri... http://www.weathercity.com/ie/dublin/ looks good.
The rules are simple...
we need a beach with lots of rocks, stones,or pebbles and can only use rocks, stones,or pebbles, as our building blocks, mosaics, patterns, coloured stones etc but these can contrast against the water, sand etc - no added bits of seaweed sticks etc
We take 3 digital photos....one of the general coastal area we wrking on, one of the process of constructing it-the people involved too, and finally a photo of the finished piece in all it's glory.
People can work in a group on one piece or do their own individual thing...
The final element is to write a poem or descriptive piece, can be funny, arty, clever, poignant depending on what the work, the day unfolds to us of max 500 characters and then upload to theVandA online website and await their display..
Jessica and myself and some friends did one of these down in West Cork (it's not uploaded yet as we still have a text to write with it, but it was a lot of fun doing it and we didn't visit the website beforehand which would have influenced more what we did) here's a pic of it before and after. See if you can spot the difference. Will include a third pic for scale.
May I suggest Bray beach and please note anyone not bothered with the rock art can draw as normal, can draw anyone who wants to do the rock art, whatever, it's just a suggested idea and we can all meet at 1pm at the Bray Sealife AquariumThe final element is to write a poem or descriptive piece, can be funny, arty, clever, poignant depending on what the work, the day unfolds to us of max 500 characters and then upload to theVandA online website and await their display..

Tweenbots
the bots
You'll like this, it's nice :)
Tweenbots are human-dependent robots that navigate the city with the help of pedestrians they encounter. Rolling at a constant speed, in a straight line, Tweenbots have a destination displayed on a flag, and rely on people they meet to read this flag and to aim them in the right direction to reach their goal.

Please email me a pic of sketches done today or feel free to post them up. Lovely to meet you all. Here are my two.. still deciding whether the water feature "person" is male or female - but I think I'm going to go with male seeing the anger in that fist!
Here's two below from James
It was a lovely, lovely day for sitting and catching the rays in the park.
Well chosen Martha !

Dear all,
Since no one volunteered to post anything here... how about the Starbucks on Harcourt Street? I suggest this place just as a meeting point, we do not have to stay inside. There is canal and iveagh gardens nearby, as well as one charming but not so well known boulangerie, were we could go later for a much much much better then STB coffee+ pastries.
April 19 is known as a BicycleDay, so we can bring brightly colored pens and pencils this time to celebrate the days of yellow submarine.
Hope to see you on Sunday, April 19, 1pm as usual.

Dear all,
I have collected a few places where we coud stay indoors/have lunch or dinner.
The places where duly picked from the best lonelyplanet rewieved premises: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/ireland/county-galway/galway-city/restaurants
1. Busker Brownes - cafe-bar, a prime spot to catch live ragtime jazz.
2. Delight - sand witch heaven into which one comes through a hole-in-the-wall (phrasing lonelyplanet's).
3. Le journal - cafe at Spanish Arch, decorated with books.
4. Finnegan's - authentic eatery, has good customer reviews.
5. Da Tang Noodle House - anyone up for a noodle (^ ^) ?
See you soon! I'm taking the train from Hueston at 5:50.
Cartoon contest?
(Images taken from http://www.tabrizcartoons.com)
Dear all,
I have discovered this website which conducts a number of drawing contests on subjects such as:
- Finantial Crisis
- Celebrity Caricatures
...
(
I don't like celebrities, but check this one out:
http://caricaturcios.blogspot.com/2008/12/2-lugar-en-la-bienal-internacional-de.html
)
So I consider giving this a try! Click on Exibitions to see what was entered for the previous contests, there were quite a few! Some of the works are fantastic, some are quite primitive. It is really worth looking if you have a wile, since the ones that won are not the funniest!
Have a nice Thursday everyone, and see u in Galway! (^ ^)
A few more sketches from Imma.
Galway Trip - Final Note
Hi. So, a room for six has been booked with Sleepzone Hostel in Galway City, for Fran, Tom Sarah Bo, Ciaran, Marta, and Tracy. It has been booked under my name, so if you are there before me you can give them my name [Snip] and maybe the ref.no. (not sure if I should put it up here, but text me on [Snip] if you need anything). I'll be getting the 17.50 train from Heuston on Friday evening, so I should be there on time for the 21.00 check-in time. Feel free to bring along maps and guide-books, some of us haven't been to Galway before, and we'd be delighted with suggestions for good sketching places from those who have.
Here's some links for the hostel:
