"Tucked away in Ranelagh.
(20 February 2011)This little garden is tucked away at the end of Ranelagh close to the DART station. Almost 2.5 acres in size with a lovely ornamental pond in the centre it is difficult to find. In 2008 a statue was erected here to commemorate Richard Crosbie who organised the first hot air balloon flight from these gardens in 1785 in front of 20,000 spectators. At one point in time the gardens were owned by an order of nuns and the public were not allowed access. When the land was sold for development the gardens were re-instated but on a much smaller scale.."
