Enjoyed the day in GCD. Some amazing buildings, including even an Art Gallery. Must go back there again and see it all. Thanks Martha for the idea.
Dublin Sketchers get together every Sunday afternoon in Dublin to sketch. We go to a different place each week. Check here before hand to see where we are off to. Come along if you fancy it! We start sketching from 2pm and meet at 4pm for a drink and chat. We are part of the global Urban Sketchers community.

Meeting this Sunday at 29 March, 1 pm - Il Valentino! Grand Canal Dock.
Dear Ladies and Gentleman!
For this Sunday I would like to suggest a spectacular location in the Docklands. It should be warm and sunny enough for outdoors, however I suggest to meet inside a lovely Italian cafe/bakery Il Valentino which is open until 3pm on Sundays and serves particularly proper coffees.
There are plenty of very sketchable glass-wall buildings, Italian bakery shop, water, construction sites... :)
To get there the nearest train station that you can see on the map is Grand Canal Dock. It is at bottom of Pearse Street towards Ringsend.

I mentioned that there is a great exhib. starting on Sunday in Dunlaoghaire County Hall, near the Ferry, by The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club, (and on for 2 weeks). Someone suggested we go to Dunlaoghaire to sketch, and also see the Exhib. while we are there. Suits me, I love water! Someone elso may come up with another venue, also.
Wed. 18th. Edited to say this is their 131st Annual Exhib! They have been around ! I would like to check out if the painted chasm is still on the East Pier also!

The total cost of this hostel room per person is 50 euro although at this point you do not owe me anything for booking because the website only charges 10% of the price.
Galway Train timetable for Friday:
Bus #20: DUBLIN−ATHLONE−GALWAY
Please note that the bus takes 3h 30 min, which is 1 hour longer then the train, however the bus is more frequent.

The National Gallery
Here's my complete sketch from the national gallery the other week. There were a couple of folk in the picture I took too, (er, um, in my memory of course - you're not supposed to take photos), so I included them as well.
James you can delete this whenever. Enjoy it lads.
Tom
Edit: Thanks to Mary, who also found out that there is no charge for entry to the Print Museum, but also that they can arrange to have coffee available in the cafe. Plenty of sitting space there also!
Enjoy!!

Sunday 15th March
Really enjoyed yesterday in the Botanics -would be great to go back there again another Sunday when (if!) the weather turns.
During coffee afterwards, a couple of suggestions were made for next Sunday....
- Stephen suggested the Printers Museum which is open on Sunday and free and would have lots of machinery etc about the history of printing. Not sure what road it's on, but near-ish to Grand Canal Dock (if navigating by pubs, then the Beggars Bush and Slattterys!)
- Paddy's Weekend - I said I would look into it to see if anything it on. On the Sunday, tere is a Family Big Day Out in Merrion Square with performances/workshops/installations/puppets/storytelling/circus etc. It might be super busy though with tonnes of kiddies..... It starts at noon.

Galway trip (in April?)
Greetings All!
I have started to put together some details regarding a possible trip to Galway this spring!
We will have 3 weekends in April, so may be we can decide which time suits best for most people:
1) 10(friday)-12(sunday)
2) 17-19
3) 24-26
There are two central hostels that seem best from the reviews.
The one that I suggest is "Sleepzone":
http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Sleepzone-Galway-City/Galway/408
8 Bed Mixed Dorm Ensuite 22 Euro
Alternatively, Kinlay House Hostel for more or less the same price is a good choice as well, it has only one problem: it is a 223-bed hostel and children friendly.
http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Kinlay-House-Hostel-Galway/Galway/401
You are welcome to suggest other hostels you like, however for most of the central hostels noise is mentioned in the reviews (some are hosting tours every day or have a night club in the same building) even though the overall rating is quite good.
There is is more information about hostels on hostelworld and lonelyplanet website:
http://hotels.lonelyplanet.com/hotel/?SearchDetails=K!10002!7!-1!563!!!-1!-1!-1!-1!13..!!!57.59.27.4.52!!&PreviousSearchId=-1&TargetHotelId=-1&SubmitDates=False&VAError=-2147483648&IsSubmit=False
Please vote for hostels and dates in the comments :) It is important that we decide as soon as we can because rooms are already getting booked for these dates.
We could book 8-bed or 6-bed room or 2 rooms just for ourselves depending on how many people decide to go.
